Evermore: by Alyson Noël [and some news!]

I know I haven't been very active lately. That is because I stocked up on reading so I could give you all a lot of book reviews! I am also doing book related posts, not just reviews! I hope you guys are excited, 'cause I am!
My friend(s) told me about this book. I took their advice, and this book, Evermore, is a twist on the ever-popular paranormal romance theme. The character, Ever, had lost her family in a car accident, and now she can read minds and see auras. Damen, her gorgeous boyfriend, is extremely loyal and compassionate.
This story definitely made me feel that their romance was... real.  I do think that this book would be a great teen/preteen read. Would I buy it? Hmm. It depends on your opinion. I was happy checking it out from the library. Would I buy it? No, and I probably wouldn't get it as a gift, because though it was good, it wasn't something that will "stick with me".  If anything, I would just recommend it.
The book was a little repetitive and predictable, and it left out some important details.

(3 1/2 stars)

Thanks for reading!

all i did was listen: rachel awes (Rachel Awes Author Review Part 2)

As you know, I met an author known as Rachel Awes.  I did my first review on one of her books, diving in", and now I'm doing one on "all i did was listen".
This book uses quotes from Rachel's patients, as she is a psychologist as well as an author.  Through thoughtful and uplifting words, she brings daily relief and direction. I think through this book I can ease up on regret and "empty my purse"!
She puts things so simply that will make you wonder why you had thought of them yourself.
All of her words are translated into useful everyday metaphors. I loved how she honestly put thought, effort, and personality into her book!
I would recommend this book (and author) for just about anyone.
Rachel Awes is an author and psychologist. I met her at a meet and greet at a small town bookstore. She is a fun, great and inspirational author. Rachel is honest and true to herself, which is a quality all authors/writers should do! You can find her website at: www.rachelawes.com .

diving in: by rachel awes (Rachel Awes Author Review Part 1)

Yesterday was pretty cool.  I met an author named Rachel Awes in a small-town book shop. Here my sister and I got an autographed copy of both her books.  But cutting strait to the point, I just finished reading "diving in"!
We all get those thoughts that we think that totally should be made into books that come to us during random times, and mostly it happens in water; bathtubs, beaches,  boat rides, or in Rachel's case, a pool. She wrote about thinks that we would probably think about a lot in a pool, and turns them into metaphors for life.
I thought the style it was written was so neat- complete with hand drawn pictures (done so by the author),  photographs, and plenty of happy truths about life.
This is a great book, and I would just about recommend it to anyone!
**I thank my sister for this post, because she let me borrow her book. Thanks Lissy!**

Six Months Later: by Natalie Richards

I found this little gem by skimming through our library's catalog. It seemed like a book about a teen pregnancy- just judging by the name- to be honest. It actually was about a teen -Chloe- who ends up forgetting six months of her life.
This book was very fascinating, though Chloe's love life was understandable, it was rather predictable. I did think the book had an original mystery/thriller storyline, which was added a nice feel to the book. About halfway through there as just this.... impending boom.
I thought the main character was your typical teen, and her personalty stayed true to herself throughout the "six-month time period", which was very impressive.
The book had a "Scooby-Doo" feel to it. The "romance/love story" so-to-speak, provided an extra layer of mystery. I think Natalie Richards could have done much more with it though, other than you typical innocent-boy-playing-a-bad-boy-role-while-still-seeming-kinda-hot thing.
The pros were; good mystery, and decent characters. The cons were; overall predictable.
I would recommend this book for teen ex-Scooby-Doo fans and/or mystery fans. (4 stars)

Regine's Book; A Teen Girl's Last Words- by Regine Stokke

I was surprised when I picked this book up at our local bookstore, because I typically read dystopian and paranormal fiction, etc. The cover looked a little strange (but it is perfectly clear what it resembles), I thought at first. As always, if I am interested in a book, I'll read the first few pages.
This book is a true story about a Norwegian teen who had leukemia in 2008.  She blogged about her life during this time of great fear for her and her family. It felt as if she was directly talking to me as an individual, and she had a profound way with words. In the book, it displays photos that she had taken, along with poems she wrote.
I loved this book; it touched me in the heart, and it found like I had known this girl for years. The part I disliked about the book, was it was rather tragic.
I would recommend this book for people who need a good reality check and that they could have it worse. Also great for people who plan so far into the future and seem to set things in place, as if nothing could possibly come and take those plans away.
This autobiography has inspiring quotes pictures, and poems that Regine herself had taken.
I would not recommend this story for extremely sensitive people or children, as it describes subject matter involving the dreaded disease of cancer. (This book may also not be suitable for cancer patients.)
If you are planning on giving this book as a gift, just make sure the person isn't overly sensitive.
This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it! (four and a half stars!)
